Mater Research are looking for a Research Assistant to join the team supporting QCEIDAH projects! This appointment is full-time on a maximum term contract until June 2026 and will be based at our South Brisbane campus.

Salary range: $41.47 - $44.69 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Reporting into the Senior Research Fellow of QCEIDAH, the Research Assistant will be responsible for providing top-notch research support to assist in the implementation of projects related to the National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health within QCEIDAH. The Research Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the research team and promoting exceptional, evidence-based healthcare. QCEIDAH's mission is to enhance the health and well-being of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through clinic, research, and education initiatives.
As a key member of the Consortium that established the National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health, QCEIDAH, in collaboration with UNSW, is dedicated to driving innovation, improving health services, and leading initiatives in data and research to advance the overall health and well-being of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The National Centre, a major initiative supported by the Australian Government, Department of Health and Aged Care, is comprised of four teams, including the Research & Data team, which the Research Assistant will be a part of. The role involves actively collaborating with team members to complete research tasks effectively and ethically, providing technical assistance to research staff, conducting research literature searches, managing data, and contributing to the publication of research papers. Additionally, the Research Assistant will assist in creating educational resources, research study materials, and other knowledge translation resources to support the mission of the National Centre in improving healthcare services for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
About you
The successful candidate will have Tertiary qualifications in Health Science (or working towards) with previous experience or understanding of disability and the health sector in Queensland.
- Experience in providing comprehensive research administration support, including a proven capability to operate effectively in a complex work environment is essential
- Experience with data management systems and an ability to learn quickly
- Proficiency with data management systems and ability to learn quickly
- Desirable experience in project management and as a research assistant
- High competence in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel
- Knowledge of health care needs of marginalised populations
- Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to produce high-quality written materials for different audiences
