- Location: Willing to consider candidates across all NSW locations. Preference will be given to candidates based regionally, with a focus on Queanbeyan, Armidale, Dubbo and Coffs Harbour
- Salary from $75,728 to $145,442 pa. + 12 % superannuation (Professional Officer G1-4)
- This opportunity is open to DPIRD/LLS staff only
The salary offered to the successful candidate will be commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience, as outlined in the Crown Employees (Department of Regional NSW) Professional Officers Award and the Professional Officer Progression Criteria (1-4).
* To be considered for a 3 year temporary appointment applicants must be on a current talent pool at the grade of this advertised vacancy or higher OR have been comparatively assessed at the grade of this advertised vacancy or higher. Comparative assessment means you were appointed through an externally advertised role.
If you do not meet the requirements above, you may be considered for a temporary appointment for a period of up to 12 months.
About the Opportunity 🌿
As the Research Officer – Low Emissions Agriculture, you will lead and contribute to impactful research into greenhouse gas (GHG) quantification and climate change mitigation in the primary industries sector. This is your chance to collaborate with some of the best minds in the field, working across government, research institutions and industry to develop and implement practical, science-based solutions that make a real difference.
What You’ll Be Doing 🔬
In this role, you’ll:
- Investigate GHG quantification and identify opportunities to reduce emissions across primary industries
- Work with researchers and stakeholders to develop practical solutions and policy recommendations
- Identify what’s standing in the way of adoption—and help remove those roadblocks
- Support circular economy initiatives that make farming more sustainable
- Share your findings through reports, publications, and presentations
- Build strong relationships and keep projects on track and on time
Essential requirements ✅
- Degree qualifications in Agricultural Science or a similar relevant discipline.
- A current, valid Driver Licence.
