Job Summary: |
This position is responsible for oversight and monitoring compliance with contractual requirements, applicable ADCRR written instructions, and National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards at the state-operated prison complexes with high health needs due to a large inmate population or the mission of the prison with respect to healthcare. It ensures appropriate timely and professional medical, mental health and dental care is provided to the inmate population by the contracted vendor. This position identifies areas of noncompliance or concern, resolves issues and/or elevates them to the Contract Compliance Administrator, and oversees corrective action.
Job Duties: |
- Reviews, monitors and oversee medical, mental health and dental services at the assigned facilities
- Ensures the vendor provides timely, professional and appropriate care to incarcerated individuals in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures
- Tours facilities and conducts scheduled and unscheduled inspections/audits
- Performs annual peer review
- Acts as on-site advisor to the vendor during emergency situations, e.g. disturbances, etc.
- Assists in the development and implementation of monitoring programs, utilization reviews, action plans and policy development/revisions
- Prepares required reports and recommendations
- Identifies and resolves deficiencies
- Reports deficiencies through the chain of command, as appropriate
- Monitors and reports on implementation of corrective action plans
- Works collaboratively with Compliance Review/Audit Nurse assigned to the complex
- Completes special projects and assignments with given time frames
- Attends meetings
- Conducts and/or coordinates research
- Responds and/or prepares responses to inquires form internal and external sources
- Work Collaboratively with the Compliance Review/Audit Nurse
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): |
Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of correctional healthcare management and supervision as set forth by the United States Constitution, Arizona Revised Statutes, the NCCHC and the American Correctional Associations; laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to the privatization and administration of inmate medical, mental health and dental care
- Methods and strategies for monitoring and auditing compliance with those laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Personnel and administrative procedures and law (State and Federal) relative to licensed and/or certified health care staff, as well as general staff

Selective Preference(s): |
Prefer a minimum of five years experience in correctional healthcare administration OR a degree in a healthcare or related field and 3 years of experience in correctional healthcare administration.
Prefer a Certified Correctional Healthcare Professional (CCHP)
Pre-Employment Requirements: |
In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.
