PARK RANGER - SKILLBRIDGE
Must be able to complete a minimum of 8 weeks and up to a maximum of 6 months SkillBridge internship
Must be separating from the Military
Has served at least 180 days on active duty

Lake Havasu & Parker
Sedona, Payson, Flagstaff, Cornville, & Camp Verde
Benson, Safford, Apache Junction, & Tucson

This Internship can be up to 6 months, depending on Service Member's availability
Job Summary: |
Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled work activities in the operation and maintenance of a recreational, historic, or natural resource park; interprets natural features of the area, or historic objects /artifacts for visitors; and ensures public safety by enforcing Park rules and regulations.
Job Duties: |
Infrastructure & Amenities:
• Performs general tasks necessary to ensure proper working order and condition of park buildings, equipment, infrastructure, and amenities
Public & Staff Safety:
• Promote the safety of park visitors and enforce Park rules and protect Park resources
• Confers with local officials and law enforcement officers
• Utilizes a two-way radio communications system
Customer Service:
• Provide customer service by phone and in person and respond to public inquiries about park hours, accommodations, and reservations
• Hosts visitors
Cash Handling:
• Perform, cashier duties at Contact Station/Gift Shop; collect and account for fees for park admission and store purchases
Maintenance:
• Perform general maintenance duties in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, landscaping, equipment operations, minor electrical, and other similar tasks
Water Compliance/Reporting:
• Under direction, execute the daily activities necessary to ensure the safe operation of the water & wastewater operations at Buckskin Mountain/River Island
• Records and completes all necessary reports concerning Buckskin Mountain/River Island Water & Wastewater operations
• Documents, records, and submits records and reports within established requirements

Knowledge:
• Techniques for display and interpretation of objects, artifacts, and general resources to visitors
• Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services
• Water and wastewater treatment equipment and practices
• Park rules, fees, and revenue functions
• General office procedures
Skill:
• Public relations and information dissemination, active listening, service orientation, and critical thinking
• Basic water and waste operations techniques
• Driving and operating automatic equipment
Ability:
• Perform procedures associated with water and wastewater treatment
• De-escalate upset or noncompliant visitors
• Oral and written communications
• Interpersonal relationships
• Perform math calculations
• First aid techniques
Selective Preference(s): |
• Two years of experience equivalent to a Park Ranger Specialist, or three years of work experience in customer service, library, or museum work, or a Bachelor’s degree in Park Management, Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or a closely related field
• Any combination of training and experience that meets knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted
Pre-Employment Requirements: |
• Must possess and maintain a current Arizona Driver’s license appropriate to assignment
• Within six months of hire, possess and maintain CPR/First Aid certification
