Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADJC) is searching for a Mental Health Supervisor candidates who is committed to making a difference in the lives of Arizona's youth. This position will work under the direction and leadership of the Clinical Director of Psychological Services, will manage treatment program delivery, oversee the operations of therapeutic crisis interventions such as the Temporary Stabilization Units and Suicide Prevention, coordinate multi-disciplinary program planning teams, oversee the Intake, Reception, Assessment and Classification (RAC) and Treatment planning, develop programs and monitor progress and training. A Psychology Associate Supervisor may supervise clinical staff working within a program they oversee. Job Duties:
  • Train, coach and provide clinical supervision to Psychology Associates II
  • Oversee and manage treatment program development, delivery and monitor progress
  • Evaluate and diagnose juveniles, make treatment plans and recommendations, monitor case plans and treatment recommendations and youth’s progress, make recommendations on youth progress
  • Clinical intake, reception, assessment and classification process
  • Create and maintain standards of work for clinical services processes
  • Completes administrative duties as assigned and effectively communicate results to all appropriate personnel
  • Train, coach and provide clinical supervision to Psychology Associates II

  • Oversee the operations of therapeutic crisis intervention such as Temporary Stabilization Units, Suicide Prevention, PREA, Crisis Intervention Team, Clam rooms and therapeutic tools
  • Coordinates services for youth using multi-disciplinary program teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:

  • Federal and State laws pertaining to the supervision and treatment of assigned youth
  • Legal parameters regarding the use of separation
  • Effective juvenile practices and behavior modification techniques
  • ADJC behavioral management system and practices
  • Developmental disorders and sensory impairments
  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorders and conduct disorders

Skill in:

  • Written and verbal communication
  • Time management and multi-tasking
  • Establish and maintain work relationships
  • Computer software to include but not limited to Google Suites
  • Clinical report writing
  • Conducting interviews and assessing the needs of youth
  • Assess learning disabilities
  • Assessment of ethnic minority youth
  • Use of statistical and measurement concepts and instruments

Ability to:

  • Learn and apply Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections policies and procedures
  • Collaborate effectively with ADJC personnel, other government employees and stakeholders
  • Prepare reports, analyze data, and deploy comprehensive plans
  • Manage Multi-Disciplinary Teams
  • Work in a correctional environment
Selective Preference(s):

Professional experience in a correctional setting

Pre-Employment Requirements:

REQUIRED: Doctoral or Master’s Degree in Professional Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or closely related field with two (2) years of clinical and program experience.

REQUIRED: Must possess a current, active Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AZBBHE) Independent license must be current and active to engage in the practice of behavioral health in the State of Arizona (See Arizona Revised Statute §32-3271-4) AZBBHE licensure is a condition of continued employment.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function on the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license records checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.010).
