Assistant Professor Basic Scientist - Department of Surgery in Health Science Campus College Toledo, OH
The Department of Surgery at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences (UTCOMLS) seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position (at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor). We are looking for researchers focused on tumor immunology, including the tumor microenvironment, the role of the microbiome, and strategies to overcome tumor immunosuppression. This laboratory initiative aims to develop the tumor immunology program at UTCOMLS and support a federally funded effort studying the mechanisms and interactions between radiofrequency ablation, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy in the treatment of hepatocellular cancer. Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree and have at least three years of relevant postdoctoral experience. Successful candidates will be expected to develop and maintain an externally funded research program and contribute to teaching in our medical and graduate programs. Applicants will be provided with an updated research laboratory (BSL2) and salary support commensurate with faculty rank.

Post Doctoral Associate in Main Campus - Academic Toledo, OH
A postdoctoral position is available for an organic/medicinal chemist skilled in multistep organic synthesis and characterization. The preferred candidate will work independently to synthesize a series of seven ligands for delivery to a collaborating pharmaceutical company in the required amounts, purity, and project timeframe. Expertise in multistep synthesis (10 steps or greater is preferred), purification, and structural characterization of novel chemical matter, including NMR, mass spectrometry, and related techniques, is essential. Bimonthly progress reports and meetings with the sponsor will be expected. The nature of the compounds is confidential. The sponsor is supportive of publication after necessary consideration of intellectual property, but publication decisions will be at the sponsor’s discretion. This position is funded for one year.
