The opportunity

Reporting to the Superintendent Autonomous Mining, this role will provide technical leadership and operational support for the Autonomous Haulage System (AHS), driving continuous improvement in safety, reliability, productivity, and system performance through data-driven optimisation and close collaboration with operational, maintenance, technology, and OEM stakeholders.

This is a permanent full-time role based at our Pilgangoora Operation in the Pilbara region, which operates on an 8:6 FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO in the Pilbara region.

Key responsibilities

Core duties and responsibilities of this role: 

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance AHS reliability, productivity, and operational maturity.  

• Collaborate closely with Mine Operations, Mine Planning, Maintenance, Technology, and OEM partners to optimise autonomous and manned interface areas.  

• Monitor, analyse, and optimise AHS performance, including fleet utilisation, cycle times, intervention rates, system availability, and operational productivity to identify improvement opportunities. 

• Provide technical leadership and operational support for the Autonomous Haulage System (AHS), ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient autonomous mining operations aligned with production objectives. 

HSE (General) 

• Champion a strong safety, accountability, and continuous improvement culture within the AHS team 

• Ensure strict compliance with statutory requirements, site Critical Controls, OEM standards, and PLS safety management systems. 

• Maintain governance of AHS procedures, standards, training, and compliance requirements, ensuring autonomous operations are conducted safely and in accordance with site critical controls, statutory obligations, and company standards. 
• Support and facilitate incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified, corrective actions are implemented, and learnings are embedded across the operation. 

Communication 

• Act as the primary liaison between Mining Operations, Technology, OEM support partners, and Mine Control, ensuring effective coordination and alignment of (AHS) activities. 

• Provide timely and accurate communication of (AHS) performance, risk, incidents, and operational constraints to relevant stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making and effective issue resolution. 
• Facilitate daily operational meetings, shift handovers, readiness reviews, and performance discussions, ensure critical information is communicated and actions are understood and completed. 
• Develop and maintain clear operational documentation, reports, procedures, and technical communications that support safe, efficient, and standardised autonomous mining operations. 

About you

• 5+ years' operating AHS haul fleets 
• Deep experience with CAT Command for Hauling 
• Experience as an AHS Mining Supervisor, AHS Control Supervisor, Controller/ Builder or Pit builder.  
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment. 
• Strong commitment to safety and the environment. 
• Tertiary qualification in Mining, Mechanical or Automation Engineering 
• SSE Qualifications 
• QM Qualifications 
• OEM AHS accredited training 
• Large scale hard rock mining experience 
• Ideally experience in all three Supervision, Control and Pit building roles with Command environment
