The PEP/Transitions Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day implementation and management of College Jail/Prison Education Program inside of the Kentucky Department of Corrections facilities: Bell County Forestry Camp as well as supporting the county jail program on the technical campus (with bi-monthly check-ins). Provides support in the broader community as it relates to transition and re-entry planning for students who will be continuing their education outside of the DOC/jail. The PEP Coordinator works to build and sustain a rapport with students who are incarcerated, facilitates aspects of the program that supports student learning and faculty, works collaboratively with Department of Corrections/Jail officials to ensure that effective implementation of the Prison Education Program, and develops programmatic efforts to enhance re-entry support for students as they continue to pursue their degrees at SKCTC.

HCTC Works Apprenticeships (High School Students Only) in Hazard, KY
HCTC WORKS! is a grant funded project awarded from the Department of Labor. HCTC WORKS! partners with our Hazard Community and Technical College students, high school students and employers in our region to place students in apprenticeship programs in high demand jobs. As will all apprenticeship programs, a work-based learning component is the primary method for teaching the required competencies. The local business that employs the apprentice becomes an extension of the classroom for the student. The goal of an apprenticeship is to provide a hands-on work-based learning experience in a given field or trade. As an HCTC WORKS! apprentice, you will receive guidance in choosing a career path that interests you. We will help you with job placement (apprenticeship) with a local employer within that field. Apprenticeships are a PAID opportunity.
