Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is looking for a Sr. Tax Auditor for a position with its External Audit work center.
The Senior Tax Auditor is responsible for independently planning, conducting and finalizing audits and reviews of Fuels Tax, Motor Vehicle Fuels Sales Tax, the International Registration Plan (IRP), and the International Fuels Tax Agreement (IFTA) programs and for informing management of audit findings in a clear, concise, supportable, and timely manner. Additionally, provide technical assistance and advice to external and internal customers.

Minimum Qualifications
-Considerable experience with auditing methods, principles and procedures to evaluate tax returns and relevant data, financial reporting programs and financial records of audited customers.
-Experience performing detailed analysis of electronic or manual records using computerized software (such as IDEA and Microsoft Office Suite) to draw logical conclusions on compliance.
-Considerable experience with each step of the audit process from beginning to end.
-Experience interpreting and applying pertinent laws, regulations and policies in relation to Fuels Tax program, Motor Vehicle Fuels Sales, the International Registration Plan (IRP), and the International Fuels Tax Agreement (IFTA) programs.
-Experience working with multiple stakeholders, internal and external.
-Experience developing and coordinating training activities to provide technical assistance to team-members.
Additional Considerations
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in accounting or professional auditing or accounting experience in lieu thereof.
