• 2 Public Health Nurse Supervisors
• One position based in Petersburg
• One position based in Hopewell

As a Public Health Nurse Supervisor, you’ll not only lead and inspire a team of nurses but also have the chance to provide hands-on care and make an impact in public health. You’ll be working across multiple clinics, performing a range of important services from STI testing and family planning counseling to immunizations and low-risk prenatal care.

Responsibilities:
• Supervision & Leadership: Directly supervise a team of registered nurses, including training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and discipline.
• Direct Patient Care: Provide nursing services in clinics, homes, and schools, including nursing assessments, lab tests, medication administration, case management, and more.
• Community Engagement: Provide holistic, community-based care, and assist with Public Health Emergencies as needed.
• Travel within the health district to engage with diverse communities and needs

This position requires:
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Virginia or compact state
• Must be able to be fit tested for an N95 or another respirator
• VDH requires all Health-Care Personnel (HCP) to provide documentation of immunization or evidence of immunity to the following: hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella; a one-time dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine regardless of the interval since the last dose of tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine was administered (Td or Tdap boosters shall be received every 10 years); and the current year's seasonal influenza vaccination.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires licensure as an RN in Virginia or compact state and requires BLS certification.
• Experience with supervision and performance management.
• Experience with staff orientation, and/or staff development
• Knowledge of case management, and/or ambulatory clinic services.
• Knowledge of nursing theories related to improving the health of the community.
• Work effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds.
