The Virginia Department of Health Profession's (DHP) mission is to ensure safe and competent patient care by licensing health professionals, enforcing standards of practice, and providing information to health care practitioners and the public.

The Education Program Inspector duties include but are not limited to reviewing and processing applications to establish nurse aide education programs in the Commonwealth and conducting visits regarding approved nurse aide education programs as directed by the Board and in accordance with requirements established in Board of Nursing Regulation by contacting the education programs to arrange for a mutually agreed upon time for the visit.

The location requirement for this position is Richmond and surrounding areas.

This is a wage (hourly) position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours during the 12 month period of May 1 – April 30, with no more than an average of 29 hours per week over the 12-month period.

Minimum Qualifications

• Possess experience in nurse aid/or nursing education program development, teaching and evaluation methods.
• Considerable knowledge of and experience with the principles of education with emphasis on teaching adults.
• Knowledge of and experience with nurse aide and or nursing education
• Knowledge of laws and regulations governing nurse aide and nursing education programs.
• Effective public contact and organizational skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and word processing skills in a Windows environment.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze technical issues and make valid recommendations, to work independently and set priorities, to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to prepare detailed reports.
• Live and be willing to travel around Richmond and surrounding areas for nurse aide education program visits.

This is a wage (hourly) position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours during the 12 month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.
