Job Duties

Position presides over all hearings for inmate disciplinary reports. Receives and processes all forms related to disciplinary actions. Monitors the penalty offer process. Oversees, implements and administers all procedures related to disciplinary hearings and inmate disciplinary actions. Promotes positive inmate behavior by contributing consequences to negative behavior. Provides staff with an avenue for proper inmate management. Maintains compliance with Department policy and Division and Institutional operating procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Considerable working knowledge of Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) policies and procedures. Computer skills to include Microsoft Office and Outlook. Demonstrated ability to obtain and evaluate information and evidence to conduct a fair and impartial hearing, make a sound and impartial finding of guilt or innocence and to explain charges, rules and regulations. Demonstrated ability to synthesize data and conduct hearings in a fair and impartial manner and to document results of the disciplinary hearings. Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and apply policies and guidelines, Demonstrated ability to train staff and inmates in the application of disciplinary process.

Additional Considerations

Considerable knowledge of VADOC Inmate Discipline Procedure. Demonstrated ability to speak, write and read Spanish.
