Job Duties

Richard Bland College (RBC) is a two-year, residential, liberal arts transfer institution that focuses on preparing students for transfer to highly ranked colleges and universities. The College is a hidden gem located outside the Tri-Cities region—and its rural setting featuring 750+ acres of wetlands, bucolic forest, and the state’s oldest and largest pecan grove.

Reporting to the Chief Research Officer, the Research Analyst will assist, respond and fulfill data reporting request for the Office of Research & Innovation. In addition, this position is responsible for data reporting and analysis related to statistical and predictive analysis needs. The Research Analyst must have extensive prior experience with psychometric and statistical support services. The Research Analyst will perform all necessary functions related to data collection, data analysis, and research activities relative to the college mission and strategic priorities, and state and federal grant compliance reporting. The position will utilize Qualtrics (and related software) to collect research and college level data to inform college administration. This position will assist with publishing results, developing analytical reports and conducting evaluations.

Job responsibilities include the following:

• Assist with factors and qualitative and quantitative measures to determine faculty and student success.
• Assist with the evaluation of programs on and off campus.
• Build and assist with the development of standard methods of student retention analysis, withdrawal and graduation rate, outcome measures and any other ad-hoc or term-based analysis needs.
• Identify best practices for faculty and student success measurements.
• Designs, executes, analyzes, and interprets internal data to support data-driven decision making.
• Complete psychometric and statistical and predictive analysis ORI needs.
• Utilize Qualtrics (and related software) to collect research and college level data to inform college administration.
• Assist with results, developing analytical reports and conducting evaluations linked to publications and presentations.
• Develops models for predictive analytics based on the needs of the college.
• Identify trends in higher education and communicate and present findings to the Chief Research Officer.
• Works cross-functionally with other campus and division offices to achieve RBC's aspirational vision of 100% faculty and student success.
• Performs other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated analytical skills and demonstrated experience in accessing and utilizing data for decision making.
• Documented experience with psychometric and statistical support services.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functional areas to achieve established goals.
• Proficiency in analytic tools at the intermediate to advanced level with an emphasis on data acquisition, manipulation, merging, and transformation.
• Microsoft Office Proficiency to include: Excel with emphasis on formula writing, and data transformation.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.
• Experience with psychometric and statistical support services.
• Experience working in higher education.

Additional Considerations

• Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university, with course work in research and statistics, education administration, business or related field.
• Experience with multifaceted applications related to higher education (i.e. banner, element 451, etc.).
• Experience with SharePoint applications.
