George Mason University, Student Health Services Clinic is seeking a Lead Nurse. Reporting to the Associate Nursing Director and serving as a member of the SHS Executive Committee, the Lead Nurse supervises the medical assistants in Fairfax clinic and satellite clinics. The role provides assistance with immunizations, allergy and flu clinics, treatments ordered by the provider and assists in maintaining an orderly flow of patients in the clinic. The Lead Nurse supports the Associate Nursing Director and health care providers with ambulatory nursing health care skills and services, and is responsible for opening the clinic daily, facilitating morning huddle, and creating the clinic schedule. In addition, the Lead Nurse plans daily room assignments, manages call outs, oversees ordering of clinical supplies and medications, and provides additional nursing functions as needed to support and maintain clinic readiness and improve patient flow. Under the direction of the Associate Medical Director and Executive Director, the Lead Nurse assumes the Clinical Team supervisory role in the absence of the Associate Nursing Director. The Lead Nurse provides input for policy, procedure and process changes or revisions and serves as an advisor to the Associate Nursing Director. The Lead Nurse maintains a high level of knowledge of the Electronic Health Record and is a resource for EHR process and documentation.
