Purpose of Position
This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will contribute to the French program through teaching and service to the program, department, college, and university. The half time appointment is to teach two in-person sections of beginning French (one Fall semester, one Spring semester), serving as the instructor of record. The successful candidate will also be expected to hold office hours, attend French Club student organization meetings, and work with and assist the French Program Director with programming and curricular matters. Required Competencies
- Native or near-native fluency in French and English
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively French language and content courses, embrace new pedagogies, and inspire students
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English
- Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students
- Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues
Minimum Requirements
- Earned B.A. in French language, literature, and cultural studies or relevant field by August 15, 2025
- Successful completion of criminal history records check
- Official transcripts from the highest awarding educational institution must be provided upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications
- M.A. in French language, literature, cultural studies or relevant field by August 15, 2025
- Record of excellence in teaching demonstrated through student evaluations of teaching and statement of teaching philosophy
- Experience teaching high school or college-level French language courses
- Experience building and teaching online courses
