About the role
The Supervisor – Social Development Program is responsible for coordinating and delivering social programs that strengthen capacity, improve education and health outcomes, and foster inclusive community development. This role ensures that projects are implemented on the ground in line with company commitments under the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and community development plans
By supporting the Social Development Programs Standard within the Social Performance Management System (SPMS), the Supervisor contributes directly to the Material Issue: Capacity Building & Social Investment, which underpins sustainable community growth and resilience.
Key / Major Accountabilities
Key accountabilities of this position include.
- Lead the consistent implementation of social development initiatives across the mine lifecycle, delivering training, awareness, and capacity-building programs for communities (schools, health centres, women, youth, and church groups) to support sustainable outcomes beyond the mine.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop Community Development Officers, including work planning, resource allocation, performance feedback, and supporting recruitment and capability building.
- Execute program standards and workflows, coordinate field activities (health, literacy, empowerment, youth), track participation and outcomes, produce reports, and ensure compliance with IFC standards and internal commitments.
- Collaborate with internal teams, government, NGOs, and community partners to align programs, integrate development initiatives, manage expectations, and deliver against formal social development commitments (MOA).
About You
To be considered for this role, it is essential and/or preferred that you:
- Have a Diploma or degree in Social Sciences, Education, Community Development, or related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience in delivering community programs, ideally in PNG or Melanesia.
- Proven ability to manage small teams and deliver against workplans.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills in Tok Pisin and English; local dialects an advantage.
- Experience in conducting baseline studies (community, socio-economic, and spatial context) and social impact monitoring (aligned to projects, operations, and tenements/license/permit areas).
- Demonstrates inclusivity, fairness, and respect for diverse community groups.
