The Opportunity
Join Monash University as our Principal Cyber Security Analyst and play a pivotal role in safeguarding a dynamic, world-class academic environment. This position champions the operation and enhancement of Monash’s cyber defence and incident response capabilities. Working alongside a passionate cyber security team, you’ll lead critical initiatives to protect systems and networks, investigate and manage security incidents, and foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
This position will be responsible for delivering strategic and operational leadership in cyber defence and response activities. You’ll guide and mentor a dedicated team, drive improvements in security operations, and ensure alignment with university-wide goals. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing policies and procedures, monitoring threat landscapes, managing incident investigations, and identifying emerging risks. You will also be instrumental in integrating new technologies, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating with industry partners to enhance Monash’s security posture across local and international operations.
To be successful in this role you will have postgraduate qualifications or security-related certificates in cyber security, such as GCIA, GCIH, GCFE , GCIH or closely related other certifications, coupled with significant experience in cyber defence and incident Response. You’ll bring deep expertise in incident response, digital forensics , data protection, SIEM platforms (preferably Splunk Enterprise Security), and Information Security best practices, policies, standards, and baselines. Your ability to communicate complex security concepts, manage stakeholders, and implement innovative solutions will be key to success in this role.
