Cowell MPS is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Team Leader Catering and Utility Services to oversee the efficient and effective delivery of food, cleaning, linen, and laundry services. As the Team Leader, you will be responsible for coordinating the activities of your team, ensuring that the services meet quality standards and deadlines, and managing staff to deliver optimal results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Service Management: Ensure the production and distribution of food service meets appropriate standards of quality, hygiene, and timeliness.
  • Team Coordination: Lead and support staff members to provide high-quality cleaning, linen, and laundry services, maintaining operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Supervision and Support: Provide guidance, mentorship, and supervision to staff, helping them achieve work goals, allocate tasks, and maintain high standards.
  • Cook Duties: On occasion, you may be required to perform the duties of a Cook, ensuring food is prepared according to safety and quality standards.
  • Roster Management: Maintain employee rosters and ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet operational needs.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to food safety guidelines, cleaning protocols, and safe work practices across all services.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Trade Qualifications: Trade qualifications or equivalent skills as a Cook, with proven experience in catering, cleaning, linen, and laundry services.
  • Team Leadership Experience: Proven experience supervising and guiding a team to meet operational standards and deadlines.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with staff from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Adaptability: A flexible approach to work and rostering, with the ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organisational Skills: Demonstrated ability to allocate, inspect, and determine work priorities to ensure quality and efficiency in all tasks.
  • Judgement & Initiative: Ability to exercise sound judgment, make decisions under broad guidelines, and demonstrate initiative in day-to-day operations.
  • Knowledge of Safe Work Practices: Familiarity with food storage, handling techniques, cleaning materials, and equipment. A strong understanding of safe working conditions and relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Experience with IT Systems: Competency in using computer software, including Microsoft Word and Excel, for rostering, reporting, and other administrative duties.
  • Commitment to Quality: Knowledge of special dietary requirements and a commitment to ensuring high standards of service across food, linen, and laundry.
