Are you a highly skilled and experienced Nurse or Midwife looking to make a meaningful impact on patient care and safety? The Limestone Coast Local Health Network (LCLHN) is seeking an Advanced Nursing/Midwife Consultant – Clinical Risk to provide expert clinical leadership and drive improvements in patient safety and care outcomes across our network.
In this dynamic and autonomous role, you will use your clinical expertise to manage and mitigate clinical risk, ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance, while enhancing overall organisational performance and the consumer experience.
What the Role Involves:
As an Advanced Clinical Risk Consultant, you will:
- Lead and support the implementation and management of clinical risk strategies across LCLHN, ensuring effective outcomes in line with organisational objectives.
- Provide expert clinical leadership and advice to nursing and midwifery teams, medical officers, executives, quality, risk & safety teams, and stakeholders.
- Coordinate and lead projects and programs that enhance patient, client, and service outcomes.
- Manage and provide medico-legal advice to the LCLHN, ensuring regulatory compliance and risk minimisation.
- Facilitate the investigation and management of adverse events, collaborating with relevant stakeholders, including clinical staff, patients, and consumers, to develop corrective actions.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of relevant Departmental and Government policies and state-wide portfolios.
What We’re Looking For:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Qualifications: Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse or Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with excellent communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
- Autonomy & Innovation: The ability to work independently with a high degree of autonomy, bringing creative and innovative solutions to complex clinical risks.
- Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and promote consumer engagement initiatives.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years post-registration experience as a Nurse and/or Midwife.
- Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing and/or midwifery practice, including risk management and clinical leadership.
- Proven track record in managing and leading change initiatives, project management, and contributing to organisational risk assessment and monitoring.
