About the position
The Learning Support Coordinator- Subject Support Program (SSP) is a strategic operational role within Library Learning Services, responsible for delivering La Trobe University's comprehensive undergraduate academic support program. This fixed-term position, funded through Equity Plan Investment, coordinates the SSP model that serves all undergraduate year levels across the University's 10 Schools.
Building on SSP's established success in delivering measurable equity outcomes, this role ensures consistent delivery of high-quality academic support while maintaining systematic, data-driven approaches to student success. The Coordinator oversees a substantial cohort of casual Subject Support Tutors, ensuring effective support delivery across high-enrolment subjects with identified academic support needs.
Working collaboratively with the Library Learning Services team, Academic Skills Advisor- Equity Project and under the guidance of the Senior Coordinator, Library Learning Services, the Learning Support Coordinator- SSP will:
• Coordinate comprehensive program delivery across all undergraduate levels and Schools
• Manage onboarding, training, and professional development for casual Subject Support Tutors
• Oversee data-driven subject selection and systematic impact evaluation
• Ensure consistent delivery standards and quality assurance across program scope
• Maintain collaborative partnerships with academic staff for embedded support delivery
• Coordinate systematic reporting and continuous improvement processes
This role requires strong operational coordination capabilities, experience in academic support delivery, and commitment to equity and inclusion in higher education. The position offers opportunity to lead delivery of a nationally recognised program while contributing to evidence based support models that demonstrate measurable impact on student success.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have:
• A postgraduate degree with subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and specialist expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training.
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating established academic support programs or educational services, with ability to manage operational delivery across multiple stakeholders, maintain quality standards, and ensure consistent service delivery across diverse academic disciplines.
• Proven capability in workforce coordination and management, including recruitment, training, and professional development of casual academic staff, with experience in maintaining service quality and performance standards across distributed teams.
• Strong understanding of equity frameworks in Australian higher education, with demonstrated ability to deliver and optimize interventions that improve outcomes for students from underrepresented backgrounds, particularly low SES, Indigenous, regional, and remote students.
• Experience in data-driven program administration, including use of analytics for operational decision-making, systematic reporting, and performance monitoring, with ability to translate data insights into service improvements.
