About the position
The Facilities and Technical Services Stores enables Teaching and Research at the Bundoora campus by receiving, processing and recording scientific and general shipments into La Trobe University for the Science Precinct and other areas. The onsite warehouse can receive palletised or bulky deliveries (roll on/off), gas cylinders, Biological and Chemical substances, consumables and manage field trip safety equipment for re-distribution within the university.
We are looking for a proactive and reliable team member to join our Stores team at the Bundoora campus, where no two days are quite the same. This is a hands-on, service-driven role that supports researchers, teaching staff, suppliers and other university teams by ensuring important scientific and general deliveries are received, processed, recorded and distributed smoothly.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have:
- Completion of a laboratory-based degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- High level proficiency in computer software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, electronic mail (Outlook), OneNote and the use of the internet as a research tool.
- Customer Service focus to internal and external stakeholders.
- Computer literacy, Excel, SharePoint, Word, SAP
- Knowledge of Science, Chemical and Biological substances and an understanding of their chemistries and hazards.
- An understanding of Scientific and other regulation and administration as would be found through dealings with the Department of Health and Environmental Protection Authority.
- Good document and project management skills / practices (eg ISO9001 or NATA lab equivalents) are required to effectively manage multiple tasks that arise daily.
Other compliance:
- National Police Check (Essential) and
- First Aid Qualification (Desirable)
