With a global mandate, the Hub brings together innovation, partnerships and investment expertise to address a critical challenge: despite a global SDG financing gap exceeding USD 4 trillion, children remain largely overlooked in investment decision-making. While companies and investors have significant impacts on children’s lives through products, employment, communities and environmental practices, child rights considerations are rarely integrated into investment strategies. This assignment will support UNICEF’s efforts to mobilize capital, strengthen child-focused finance approaches, and promote investment practices that better advance child rights and development outcomes.

Multiple and Flexible Pathways for Adolescents Consultant, Global Programme Division(GPD), 11 months, Remote with travel, International in various locations
UNICEF is committed to ensuring that all children and young people acquire the knowledge and skills needed to learn, thrive, and transition to further education, decent work, and active citizenship. However, many adolescents, particularly those affected by conflict and displacement, face barriers to formal education due to interrupted schooling, age-grade mismatches, lack of documentation, and legal restrictions. Flexible learning pathways such as accelerated learning, bridging programmes, alternative delivery models, and links to vocational training can help address these challenges, but their implementation remains inconsistent. This assignment will address three key gaps: limited documentation of effective practices, barriers to certification and progression, and a lack of practical guidance for displacement settings. Drawing on evidence from PROSPECTS partnership countries, the consultancy will identify and analyze promising approaches, examine certification and transition pathways, and develop practical guidance to support UNICEF country offices and partners in expanding quality, flexible education opportunities for adolescents in fragile and displacement-affected contexts.
