Kenyon College is conducting a search for a qualified candidate to serve in the position of Student Accounts Manager in the Accounting Office. This is a full time, 12-month position. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Student Accounts Manager oversees the maintenance and reconciliation of all student accounts and the maintenance and supervision of the monthly student billing invoice system. Duties also include oversight of the student loan collections process, which includes institutional and Federal Perkins loans.
The Student Accounts Manager is accountable for transactions posted to the student accounts database; the monthly billing of tuition and fees, the collection of payments on student accounts, all parent and student inquiries related to student accounts, financial aid reporting, student loan billings and collections, tuition payment plans, medical plans and the tuition refund insurance plan. Daily interaction with other offices on campus is also necessary. This position will need to stay abreast of the federal laws to include, but not limited to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the disbursement of Federal Title IV funding, oversight of the Federal Perkins loan program, and Federal Title IX regulations. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, annual processing of IRS Forms 1098T and 1098E. The Student Accounts Manager is responsible for the supervision, training and evaluation of the Student Accounts Coordinator and should possess demonstrated leadership skills and a mentoring mindset.

The successful candidate will have at a minimum a two-year degree with some accounting coursework, or equivalent work experience, with preference given to candidates with a four-year degree. Some experience in an accounting environment is also preferred. This candidate will have strong skills in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as general knowledge of information technology systems. This position serves as the
steward of the student accounts records; therefore the Student Accounts Manager must have the ability to work independently, possess strong organizational skills, and be detail oriented. The area of the student accounts management requires a sensitive and discerning approach, with
strong adaptability to change and problem solving, and the ability to shift attention from one task to another. Strong oral, as well as written communication skills are essential when relating to parents, students and colleagues. This position will require extended working hours during peak billing and audit periods.
