About the Role

The Energy Social Programs Branch is seeking an Assistant Project Officer to support the delivery of projects, continuously improve program delivery and provide administrative support.

The Assistant Project Officer works with the Senior Project Officer and Project Officer on projects to improve customer experience, build relationships with stakeholders and increase efficiency in the program delivery teams. The role provides Secretariat and administrative support including coordinating stakeholder meetings, workshops and working groups as well as preparing agendas, papers and minutes. The Assistant Project Officer also consults and collaborates with other program, policy and finance teams across the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water to lead, leverage and implement a coordinated approach.

Some projects the role may support include:

  • Developing onboarding, training materials and online workshops for over 200 non-government organisations that co-deliver the Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA) scheme.
  • Supporting and monitoring compliance of over non-government organisations and energy businesses.
  • Continuous improvement of customer information, ICT systems, processes and program guidelines.

The role requires the ability to deliver multiple tasks with tight deadlines and often competing priorities in line with established project plans, objectives and standards.

A talent pool will be created through this recruitment process. A talent pool represents a group of applicants who have been assessed and identified as suitable for this role or similar roles and who may be considered for a range of similar roles, including temporary, term or ongoing roles, over the next 18 months.

 

About You

Ideally, you will possess the following skills, experience, and attributes:

  • Experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, governance, process improvement, reporting, communication, research and/or analysis. 
  • You are organised, able to multi-task and solutions oriented. 
  • You are driven and thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment 
  • You understand hardship programs and have experience working with non-government organisations

About the Team

The Energy, Climate Change & Sustainability (ECCS) Group within DCCEEW leads strategic policy, programs and major initiatives on renewable energy and energy security, climate change and environmental sustainability.  

The Energy Social Programs Branch within ECCS designs, delivers, governs and reviews NSW Government programs that support households and small businesses to pay their energy bills and stay connected to essential services. This includes over $1.5 billion worth of programs in the financial year 2024-25.

  • The existing $435 million Energy Social Programs, including six energy rebates, one crisis support scheme and one debt relief scheme; and 
  • The extended $1.1 billion National Energy Bill Relief Fund to support every household and small business in NSW, funded by the Commonwealth Government and delivered by the NSW Government.
