They assist with academic petitions, guide degree progression, and work collaboratively with academic departments, the registrar, and other campus offices to tackle a variety of student challenges. Additionally, this role involves active participation in the development and execution of policies and strategic planning in the advising sphere, all aimed at promoting the success, persistence, and timely graduation of students within their specific college or department. This position is a team member of the College of Science’s (CSCI) Student Service Center and will work closely with the coordinator of the CSCI student service center in training new colleagues (SSP advisors), facilitating transfer orientation, and facilitating group advising/workshops, and supporting new freshman and transfer students and may visit first-year classes for such purposes. Advising at the Concord Center or representation at events held at other institutions may at times be required.
