The Department of History at California State University, San Bernardino invites applications for the position of Department Chair at the Associate or Full Professor rank beginning August 17, 2026. This invitation is for candidates internal to the history department at CSUSB only. The ideal candidate will be an experienced faculty member with demonstrated leadership and administrative skills, an established record of scholarly research and evidence of commitment to student success. The Chair is expected to provide leadership in shaping and facilitating the future of the department including student success, faculty and staff development, faculty mentoring, strategic planning, and advocating for the department’s students, staff, and faculty. The Department of History is located in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and offers a B.A. in History and a B.A. in Public History. The Department has 13 full-time tenure track faculty members and approximately 300 undergraduate majors.
