The Office of Strategic Marketing & Communications is responsible for advancing the awareness, understanding and support of the University through media relations, publications, social media, marketing, advertising, promotions, special events and other communications. The Media Relations Specialist partners with the Director of Communications and Executive Editor to develop and maintain strategies that will raise the university's stature through media relations and content development. The incumbent envisions and implements programs to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders with the goal of obtaining media placements. Stakeholders include the President, President's Cabinet, deans, faculty, donors and newsroom executives and reporters on the local, national and international levels. The incumbent develops and implements strategies to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders with the goal of creating and cross-promoting news content on all University platforms. He/She also assists with development of an emergency and crisis communications protocol based on best practices and in accordance with federal guidelines. This position works directly with the Emergency Operations Committee to implement protocol.

The Academic Advisor/Graduation Specialist provides consistent, accurate, moderately complex, general academic advising services to undergraduate students. This position works on a college advising team (Lam Family College of Business, College of Ethnic Studies, College of Liberal and Creative Arts, College of Health and Social Sciences, College of Science and Engineering, or the Graduate College of Education) within the Undergraduate Advising Center and advises students from their third year through graduation. The incumbent collaborates with faculty, staff, and administrators to deliver advising services with a focus on upper division students and those who are close to graduation. Working under general supervision, the Academic Advisor/Graduation Specialist provides advising focused on setting goals to facilitate students’ success, persistence, and degree completion in a timely manner. The Academic Advisor/Graduation Specialist also advises at new student orientations.

This Associate Director of Scholarships and Academic Support Programs is responsible for managing the support programs in the College of Engineering and for the assessment of such programs and other student success initiatives. The job duties include managing the college's scholarship assignment process and serving as the college liaison to the University scholarship office, overseeing student support programs such as engineering tutoring, assessing and reporting on student success initiatives, and evaluating trends and practices to improve student success and timely graduation. The incumbent will also provide support to the engineering faculty and to the Dean's office on the assessment of academic programs for accreditation. This position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Academic Programs.
