      Accounts Payable Technician III - INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY in Chico

      ***INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY*** Working independently under general supervision, of the Manager of Accounts Payable, the Accounts Payable Technician III independently performs professional level tasks that supports the Accounts Payable department and the overall campus community. The incumbent is responsible for the accurate and timely review and processing of transactions, such as processing invoices for payment, reviewing travel expense reports for compliance with CSU travel procedures, evaluation of activities and related withholding tax requirements, annual 1099 reporting to the IRS, perform and inform continuous education and resource support for the campus community, and actively participate in efforts for continuous improvement within department business processes or CSU initiatives that involve evaluation, planning, designing, and testing of new software solutions. Additional responsibilities include research, general customer service, and other duties as assigned. This is the journey-level of this series; incumbents are required to use initiative and judgment in performing the duties listed in this position description, adhering to all applicable rules and regulations including Federal and State requirements.

      Under the general direction of the Manager of Accounts Payable, the Accounts Payable Technician II takes the lead on a wide range of dynamic, professional-level responsibilities that keep the Accounts Payable operation — and the entire campus community — running smoothly. This role is hands-on and fast-moving, overseeing the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, from vendor invoices to CSU-compliant travel expense reports. The incumbent also dives into evaluating activities for withholding tax requirements, coordinating annual 1099 reporting to the IRS, and serving as a go-to resource for ongoing education and support across campus. Beyond daily operations, this position actively contributes to forward-thinking initiatives, including continuous improvement efforts and CSU-wide projects that involve analyzing needs, planning enhancements, designing solutions, and testing new software systems.
