The Center for Science and Society brings together a wide variety of scholars and practitioners in the human, social, and natural sciences from around Columbia's campus and the New York City metropolitan area to support interdisciplinary research, teaching, and outreach about the roles of science, technology, medicine, and public health in past and present societies. Reporting to the Associate Director and Faculty Director of the Center for Science and Society (CSS), the Program and Communications Manager will work together with CSS staff to implement programming and activities, support CSS students and affiliates, and foster relationships with new partners. The incumbent will provide general administrative support and be responsible for: 1) planning, developing, and executing the departmental communications strategy; 2) serving as a primary point-of-contact and liaison for all internal and external partners, including students, staff, faculty, and external entities; 3) managing the Center’s grant awarding process and supporting grantees; and 4) working with students, faculty, and staff on a wide range of internal and external programming and research projects, including the Center’s research Cluster the Making and Knowing Project, the Presidential Scholars in Society and Neuroscience program, and the Community-Driven Co-production of Knowledge initiative.
