Assistant in Instruction- Mathematics in Lewiston, ME
The Assistant in Instruction in Mathematics provides assistance with instruction and assessment to faculty teaching mathematics courses. This position is responsible for leading mathematics problem discussion sessions for Calculus I and Calculus II. This position assists with other classes as well, most commonly Introduction to Abstraction (MATH 221). This position also collaborates with the mathematics faculty to develop and assess meaningful hands-on student activity components to the mathematics curriculum. This position requires the ability to work successfully with math students at all levels of understanding and cognitive development using inclusive pedagogical techniques that facilitate student learning in a supportive atmosphere. The successful applicant will have the ability to meaningfully engage students who come from varied methodological backgrounds. Additionally, this position works individually and with mathematics faculty to develop projects to do during Bates’ Short Term, which typically begins in late April. Such projects may relate to math courses at Bates, assessment of learning objectives, or other departmental goals. Finally, this position will contribute to our departmental commitment to building a more equitable and inclusive mathematics program.

Assistant in Instruction- Organic Chemistry in Lewiston, ME
The Assistant in Instruction in Chemistry and Biochemistry is primarily responsible for the Organic Chemistry Laboratory, including evidence based curriculum development, teaching laboratory sections, and supervising teaching assistants. The Assistant in Instruction will also assist in preparation of other 200- level laboratory spaces, including Analytical Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry. In addition, this position will be responsible for maintaining the departmental 400-MHz NMR spectrometer.

Steward (Bates-Morse Mountain Conservation Area) in Lewiston, ME
Stewards serve as on-site representatives of Bates College. Steward tasks include greeting and informing visitors, maintaining records, monitoring entrance and parking lot, walking trail and beach, checking for damage, rule violations, and communicating with the BMMCA Director. Stewards work full-time (40- hours per week) mid-May through mid-October. Stewards are expected to work weekends and holidays.

Campus Life Event Security (Internal Posting) in Lewiston, ME
*Position Open For Current Staff Members Reporting to the Coordinator of Campus Life Programming, Campus Life Event Security serve as professional security support for Campus Life and student club events, contributing to our mission of ensuring the late night experience is safe, inclusive, and fun for all attendees. These events take place on the Bates campus at various locations. Most events will be held on Friday and Saturday nights, ending no later than 2:00am. Weeknight events, while rare, are typically scheduled to end by 11PM. Campus Life Event Security will be scheduled for events on an on-call, as needed basis.
