LCRA Transmission Services SOCC Systems Technical Support Group (TSG) group is seeking an intern for the summer of 2025. As an intern in TSG, you will work under the direction of the Energy Management System (EMS)/Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) engineers while they strive to continuously improve the models and analytical tools for the reliability of the electrical grid. You will be exposed to advanced EMS/SCADA software platforms and access complex real-time transmission & substation operation models for control room situational awareness enhancement projects.
You will be trusted to:
- Develop Intelligent Alarm Processor (IAP) rules for SCADA analytical alarming use cases in the cutting-edge EMS platform using scripting techniques. - Interact with control room operators and EMS support engineers to create IAP test cases for value propositions and proof of concept. - Develop a framework to streamline IAP modeling and testing efforts and improve IAP modeling quality by automation scripts. - Develop or improve workflow automation scripts to improve SCADA modeling efficiency and database change accuracy. - Perform EMS Alarms baselining analysis under EMS SME’s guidance and provide recommendations to EMS Alarm configure improvements.

You qualify with:
- In the freshman year of a post-graduate degree program at an accredited college or university, with some advanced coursework related to the internship.
