At Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA), we are seeking an individual to join our esteemed Transmission Line Engineering (TLE) Team in Austin, TX. This outstanding opportunity allows you to play a pivotal role in crafting and maintaining an outstanding high voltage transmission line system that serves Central Texas and beyond. You will collaborate with a dedicated team of engineers, striving to consistently improve the quality of life for Texans through a new way of engineering solutions. Your proven skills and new way of thinking will be critical in successfully conducting sophisticated design principles and providing world-class support to our engineering teams and collaborators. You will be provided with the opportunity to grow your knowledge of transmission line design and develop your understanding of the transmission service provider industry.
You will be trusted to:
- Prepare scopes for TL projects and assist in the development of project estimates. - Design Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD modeling software. - Design Transmission Line structure foundations using MFad, Pls-Caisson, or L-pile. - Communicate technical information to other collaborators as a transmission line domain expert. - Prepare Construction Documents under the direct supervision of Engineering staff. - Evaluate material performance (e.g., structures, foundations, conductors, insulators, etc.) as affected by environmental considerations, material degradation, and construction methods. - Coordinate and/or perform field inspections related to engineering support requests. - Collaborate with consultants, surveying, construction personnel, warehousing personnel, real estate, consultants, vendors, and management on matters related to transmission inspection, reliability, and rehabilitation. - Serve as a department representative on task forces, committees, and cross-functional teams, and represent LCRA on external committees, conferences, and other groups. - Contribute to the continuous development and maintenance of the TLE Department by updating design standards, procedures, and process maps.

You qualify with:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, biosystems engineering, mathematical science, physical science or related science plus four or more years of post-Bachelors engineering experience relating to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job. - Driver's license
You are a great fit with:
- Experience in crafting high voltage power lines (69kV - 345kV) or similar type projects. - Proficiency in routing and crafting transmission lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, & PLS-TOWER. - Capability to craft structures and foundations and provide structure loading trees & review vendor drawings. - Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as the NESC, ASCE, ACI, and IEEE. - Strong communication skills to effectively convey engineering designs, standards, and processes to other engineers and collaborators. - 3 years of experience in engineering related field. - Dedication to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
