A highly qualified candidate will be a Safety & Health Professional with prior power generation facility safety experience to include combine cycle, coal, or gas generation experience or safety professionals with chemical plant experience to join our team. The Generation & Telecom Safety Team is looking for a team member who is ready to contribute and provide a full range of safety and health support at a power generation facility 15 minutes east of San Marcos, Texas. We have a brand new role for a Safety Specialist that understands how to positively engage with all employees, contractors, and visitors. As our Safety Team expands our footprint in Texas, our ideal candidate will have the opportunity to apply industry best practices and provide meaningful input regarding safety programs and policies. You will be trusted to:
- Be a safety and health resource LCRA staff to the Generation Operations. - Provide daily on-site safety support with a strong interpersonal skills to engage with people. - Assist with incident investigations, tracking, and reporting. - Conduct safety orientations, safety training, and monthly / quarterly safety meetings. - Assist with safety and health inspections, and audits. - Participate in the research, development, and implementation of safety policies and procedures. - Assist staff with project support related to health and safety issues. - Prepare health and safety plans for LCRA projects. - Present findings and learnings related to safety inspections and investigations to all levels of employees. - May coordinate medical monitoring activities and schedule employees for testing. - Travel to other sites occasionally to engage with partners and support other Generation operations.
You qualify with:
- Six or more years of experience in safety and health, utility safety to include water, gas operations, energy generation, electric utility transmission and distribution operations or other relevant experience. Experience must include at least two or more years of direct safety team experience within an organization to include experience with administration, oversight or applying work safety practices, policies and procedures. Experience must include at least three years of experience with ANSI, OSHA 1910/1926.269, IEEE C95.6-2002, DOT standards and applicable work practices and safety policies. A degree(s) in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, occupational safety and health, public health or related field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience. - Driver’s license
You are a great fit with:
- Bachelors degree or greater in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or similar. - One of the following certification(s) in the field of occupational safety: ASP, CSP, CIH, CHST, or OHST. - Safety experience in a power generation facility to include combine cycle, coal, or gas generation experience or chemical plant experience - Experience in at least one of the following fields: power generation, transmission, manufacturing, chemical, oil & gas, or construction.
