  • Maitland preferred but all DPIRD office locations will be considered

  • Salary ranges from $99,938.00 to $110,271.00 + super & leave loading 

 

About the Role                                                                                                            

We are looking for Assistant Project Officers to join a talent pool for future roles that may become available within the NSW Resource Regulator over the next 18 months.

As an Assistant Project Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of strategic projects and programs that contribute to safe and sustainable exploration and mining across NSW.

You will support stakeholder engagement through high quality customer service and a focus on delivering results.  This role provides project support that contributes to the delivery of milestones, timelines and project outcomes.  Your work will help shape informed decision making and strengthen collaboration between government and industry.

As part of a collaborative and purpose driven team, your ability to organise, communicate and adapt will be highly valued. This role offers the opportunity to build your project management capability while contributing to initiatives that have a meaningful impact for regional communities and industry.  

 

About You

  • strong customer service and communication skills, with confidence engaging and building relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders

  • a proactive approach with accountability for your work, supported by sound judgement and professionalism
  • excellent organisational skills, with experience coordinating meetings, events, processing payments, supporting procurement and  project activities
  • the capability to undertake research and contribute to project documentation and reporting
  • a collaborative mindset as a team player, with a willingness to learn and grow within a supportive team environment

Who We Are

The Resources Regulator, operating within NSW Resources—a division of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development—is the state’s standalone regulator for compliance and enforcement of health and safety and rehabilitation across the mining, extractives, and petroleum sectors. This includes open-cut and underground mines, petroleum sites, quarries and extractive operations, tourist mines, opal and other small-scale mines, and mining exploration activities.

NSW Resources is responsible for the strategic management, regulation, and sustainable development of New South Wales' mineral and energy resources. We support safe, responsible exploration and mining, working closely with communities, landholders, and industry stakeholders to balance economic growth with environmental protection.  Functions include:

  • regulating exploration and mining through licensing, compliance and enforcement
  • enforcing safety regulations to ensure the safety of workers in the industry
  • developing policies for responsible and sustainable resource use
  • managing geoscientific data and geological mapping via the Geological Survey of NSW
  • supporting investment and economic development in the resources sector
  • overseeing mine rehabilitation
  • engaging with communities to promote transparency and land access collaboration.
