The Electrician is responsible for a variety of tasks, requiring highly skilled abilities in maintaining Arizona Army National Guard (AZ ARNG) buildings/infrastructure. This position performs facility electrical troubleshooting and repair of all types for the Construction and Facilities Management Office (CFMO) at Camp Navajo and outlying armories. Actively participates in promoting a continuous improvement workplace culture, through the use of teamwork, root cause problem solving, standard operating procedures, and review of performance metrics.
• Under the supervision of the Physical Plant Supervisor I is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of building electrical wiring systems, installation of appliances and equipment, exterior lighting, service facility connections while strictly adhering to current building electrical codes and personal safety rules and procedures.
• With minimal supervision, identifies, estimates and procures on-hand materials for predictive and routine maintenance.
• Periodically, provides call back response to the facilities after-hours/emergency help desk and oversees repair work as necessary.
• With minimal supervision, ensure completed work complies with state and Federal codes, established guidelines and instructions, and National and local building codes.
• Coordinate with vendors for assigned work and oversee various vendor construction and repairs for quality and completion.
• Coordinate and partner with other governmental agencies as needed. Routinely engage building managers to coordinate all routine work and schedule repairs.
• Coordinates with supervisors for scheduling, provides reports, material cost estimates, accurate logs, equipment accountability. Provides all necessary documentation to provide service and complete each task. Utilize a computer to maintain accurate records of all work. Supervises Department of Corrections (DOC) inmates on work projects.
• Coordinate monthly generators inspections with Environmental Compliance; to include run/start and test.
• Manage all monthly meter readings to include water, gas, and electric, etc.
• Consistently maintains all credentials necessary to perform all tasks assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): |
Knowledge of:
• Testing electrical systems using tools that include voltmeters, oscilloscopes and ohmmeters to determine where issues may be occurring.
• Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation.
• Determine the steps necessary to assess an electrical situation using testing devices, blueprints and maps.
• Preparing estimating, perform costing, and ordering materials.
• Establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
• Comply with National and local building codes in the planning and performance of building repair and maintenance.
• Rules and regulations to supervise inmates
• National and local building codes, structural components of building and related utilities services systems.
Skilled in:
• Enforcing safety precautions; use of appropriate PPE.
• Using tools, equipment and materials common to building maintenance work.
• The care and maintenance electrical systems regarding buildings and/or grounds.
• Preventative maintenance of powered and non-powered equipment and tools.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches and schematics as they relate to buildings and related utilities services systems.
• Verbal and written communications.
• Using computers and typical Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power-point).
• Being self-motivated

Desired qualifications include any combination of experience, education, and training that meets the knowledge, skills, and abilities as described. The preferred candidate will be a Journeyman Electrician with 5 years’ experience. Senior level experience in additional Trades.

• This position requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)
• In State travel required.
• Must be willing and able to supervise DOC minimum-security inmates.
• Candidates for this position will be required to submit to a criminal background investigation as well as possess the ability to achieve a favorable Tier 1 investigation for the purpose of obtaining a Common Access Card (CAC) within one year of hire.
