Join Baptcare's Community Services team in Sunshine and make a meaningful difference in the  +WAVES (Positive Wellbeing After Violence EndsS) is an innovative, client centered, therapeutic case management service for victim survivors of family violence. As a specialist family violence service, the program aligns with best practice, including a focus on person centered empowerment, ongoing risk and safety assessment and ensuring culturally sensitive and trauma-informed care to victim survivors.

About the Opportunity

As our Senior Family Violence Practitioner, you'll provide specialist support services to individuals and families who have experienced Family Violence. Working within our collaborative team environment, you'll deliver evidence-based interventions while contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop safety plans
  • Provide evidence-based assessment, short to medium term counselling, single session counselling, and brief therapeutic case management supporting victim survivors of family violence in the context of their family violence experience 
  • Facilitate individual and group programs focused on healing and empowerment
  • Collaborate with external agencies including police, courts, and child protection services
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to professional development activities
  • Maintain accurate case documentation and participate in case reviews

What You'll Bring

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in family violence or trauma-informed practice
  • Strong understanding of intersectional factors affecting diverse communities
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with people from all backgrounds
  • Current Working with Children Check and willingness to undergo police clearance
