Job Duties

The Food Service Technician II supervises and supports Food Service Tech I staff while maintaining the ability to perform all Tech I duties as needed. This position oversees all activities in the food texture room to ensure meals are properly cooked, prepped, and prepared according to patient needs and dietary requirements. The incumbent monitors daily portion control and waste, manages the tray line to ensure meal accuracy, and communicates effectively with supervisors and staff to meet all patient meal expectations. The Technician fosters teamwork and positive working relationships, supporting the facility’s and department’s mission, vision, and values through collaboration and effective leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

• Supervisory Experience
• Knowledge in a program or application (food service, inventory system, yields, portion control and cost control)
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Capacity to learn and perform all aspects of the food service department to include tray line, food prep, and sanitation in a safe and efficient manner.
• The ability to read, write and follow specific instructions
• The ability to operate a variety of kitchen equipment used in food preparation.
• The ability to lift heavy objects, bend, stand and walk for prolonged periods.
• Aptitude to work as a contributing team member.
• The ability to work in extreme temperatures (hot or cold).
• The ability to assist with orientation and training of new food service employees as directed.
• Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays.
