Salary/Position Classification

  • $42,800+ Annual, Dependent on Experience, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 40 hours per week
  • This position will work onsite at UND Grand Forks, ND campus

Purpose of Position

The purpose of this position is to provide support for the admissions processes, including those related to the North Dakota First legislative initiative, and overall functions of the Office of Student Affairs & Admissions (SAA) at the School of Medicine & Health Sciences (SMHS).

Duties & Responsibilities

Admissions Support

  • Work collaboratively with core advisors on main campus to provide prospective medical students accurate information, regarding admissions, curriculum, and contacts at SAA regarding the Medical Doctor program
  • Work collaboratively with the Outreach & Recruiting Coordinator and INMED office to have up to date information regarding the Medical Doctor program to assist with recruiting efforts
  •  Assist prospective applicants with inquiries including regarding application and admissions process
  • Understand SMHS academic calendar, curriculum and student support services
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders around the state
  • Act as a resource for academic advisors and stakeholders around the state
  • Assist in providing presentations to prospective applicants and student groups  

Events and Outreach

  • Assist with admissions, recruitment and other SAA events
  • Provide tours and attend open houses, info sessions, recruitment fairs, etc., providing general education regarding SMHS programs
  • Distribute resources and SMHS program materials
  • Conduct outreach to various stakeholders
  • Represent SMHS by traveling to marketing events, local schools and universities, and area conferences
  • Assist with website updates and digital media
  • Assist with development of program materials, both electronic and print
  • Travel as needed to provide accurate information and resources to stakeholders  

Required Competencies

  • Ability to become familiar with pathway programs and resources that prepare applicants for health professions at SMHS
  • Ability to become familiar with Dual Credit programs, processes and scholarships
  • Knowledge of NDUS, UND and SMHS policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of FERPA rules and regulations
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Ability to relate to and assist medical school applicants, students, and others needing assistance

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED AND 4 years of related experience
  • One year of experience working with adult or college students
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience working with medical students and/or medical residents
  • Public relations, communications or marketing experience
  • Public speaking experience
