The Opportunity

This role puts you at the heart of a University-wide financial management transformation, helping to shape and deliver practical solutions that make a real impact. You will work with complex, data-rich information to create financial models, decision support tools, frameworks and processes that can be embedded across the University. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving will guide your work as you navigate ambiguity, test assumptions and provide insights that support informed decisions. This is a hands-on role where analysis becomes action, contributing to a transparent, accountable and future-ready financial landscape at UniSC.

You will

  • lead and deliver program initiatives that strengthen the University’s financial management and embed lasting improvements;
  • turn investigation and analysis into practical frameworks, tools, and processes that drive meaningful, sustainable change; and
  • provide clear, evidence-based financial insights and scenario analysis to inform decisions across the University.

About you

Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives on turning complex financial and business information into practical, actionable insights. You enjoy digging into the details, building models and tools, and mapping processes to identify opportunities for improvement. You’re confident using your analysis to guide decisions, track benefits, and make a real difference in how our University manages its resources. You collaborate easily with others, test assumptions, and translate findings into clear recommendations that can be implemented and sustained. In short, you’re someone who combines sharp analytical thinking with a hands-on approach to help drive meaningful, lasting transformation across UniSC.

You will possess:

  • Proven experience in financial and business analysis, including modelling, data interpretation, and delivering insights in complex organisations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to turn complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Experience supporting projects or transformation initiatives through structured analysis, reporting, and tracking outcomes.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, able to present analysis to non-technical audiences and influence stakeholders.
  • Well-developed organisational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and working effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience building engagement and collaboration across teams and levels, fostering understanding and action from your insights.

Desirable

  • Experience in higher education or the public sector.
  • Familiarity with financial management frameworks, budgeting, forecasting, or decision-support processes.
  • Experience with enterprise financial systems, reporting tools, or business intelligence platforms.
  • Professional accounting or finance certification (CPA, CA) or working toward certification.
