Post-Doctoral Fellow Opening
The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Fellow position to join Prof. Ritesh Sachan’s experimental research group at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK. The Nanofusion Research Laboratory, under the guidance of Prof. Sachan, works on developing a fundamental understanding of the fabrication and properties of novel nanoscale materials using nanosecond laser-driven synthesis routes. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation nanomaterials using advanced high-throughput experimentation.
The selected candidate will explore the thin film synthesis using pulsed laser methodologies and investigate the atomic-scale characteristics of metastable phases of boron nitride. This project is part of a broader effort to develop methods for synthesizing diamond and cubic boron nitride (cBN) under atmospheric pressure, where they are metastable, thereby avoiding the limitations of synthesis by high-temperature, high–pressure, or chemical vapor deposition techniques, which are difficult to scale. The candidate will prepare regular reports for funding agencies, as well as research manuscripts for publication. Additional responsibilities include project management and training/supervising graduate and undergraduate students.
Qualifications: Ph.D. with related experience including nanoscale materials synthesis, laser processing, transmission electron microscopy. A basic understanding of Materials Science will be essential for the position. Prior experience with thin film synthesis, transmission electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, scripting with Python/Matlab will be highly desirable.
PhD degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited or equivalent program is preferred, along with experience in materials applications.
Please upload a CV and a minimum of 3 professional references on jobs.okstate.edu. For full consideration, applications must be received by November 30, 2025. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The duration of employment will be 1 year with renewal option for subsequent years.
All positions are subject to the availability of funding, and any offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
