About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a meaningful and innovative program that supports people impacted by road trauma. As the Restorative Justice Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in connecting clients to a person-centered pathway that acknowledges harm, gives voice to lived experience and offers a supportive space for understanding and healing.
Delivered in partnership with RMIT University, Centre for Innovative Justice, the program offers clients the opportunity to share their story, explore unresolved questions and seek greater understanding following a transport accident. As the Coordinator, you’ll be the main point of connection between clients, TAC staff, external referrers and our delivery partner – helping identify when restorative justice may be appropriate and guiding clients through early engagement.
In this role you’ll work directly with clients, manage referrals, prepare internal communications and briefs and record and maintain accurate data to support ongoing monitoring and program improvement. You’ll also help build staff confidence and awareness by promoting best practice and embedding a restorative approach into our broader client support model.
This is a truly unique role – one that blends direct client connection, relationship building and program coordination and contributes to TAC’s commitment to delivering tailored, compassionate support to those affected by road trauma.
Trauma Informed Communication
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage in sensitive conversations and explain information in a calm, supportive and client centered way.
Empathy & Awareness of Client Needs
A genuine interest in restorative justice and strong ability to recognize and respond to the emotional needs of clients, including when they may want to share their story, ask questions or seek understanding.
Relationship Building
Proven ability to build trust and work effectively with a range of people, including internal teams, external providers and clients – to support shared understanding and connection to the program.
Sounds Judgment
Able to make thoughtful decisions in complex or emotionally charged situations. You’ll need to consider timing, readiness and the individual needs of each client when supporting their engagement in the program.
Strong Organisational Skills
Confidence in managing referrals, coordinating tasks and following through to support smooth and consistent program delivery.
