We’re currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive finance professional to join our Reinsurance Finance team. As a Financial Control Accountant you will play a critical part in the month-end close process and reconciliation procedures relating to reinsurance activities across the Suncorp Group. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of reinsurance accounting and reporting, managing reinsurance payments and claims recoveries, and maintaining strong financial controls to support the integrity of general reinsurance business operations.
What you’ll do
- Support the team in the payment of premiums including the broker & reinsurer interactions, timely & accurate calculations of payments for reinsurance.
- Contribute to the development of meaningful insights & analysis across reinsurance
- Support required payment authorisations with Executive Leadership per Delegated Authority Policy
- Contribute to internal processes to provide robust premiums with traceability and accuracy
- Ensure that the appropriate documentation is maintained for processes and tasks.
- Assist in the collation and preparation of regulatory reporting
- Be involved projects where required
- Embrace Continuous improvement of reinsurance processes with a view to automating and removing unwarranted risks and keeping things simple
- Embrace and adopt broader Finance and Advice Enablement initiatives to standardise process across CFO Finance Services functional responsibilities
- Assist and support activities of other Finance Services functional teams (Financial Control, Advisory, Policy & Governance).
- Proportional Run-off treaties accounting and administration.
What you’ll bring
- Degree qualified – accounting (mandatory)
- Professional membership – (desired)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an accounting environment
- Technical knowledge in insurance/reinsurance accounting (desired)
- Demonstrates process improvement insights and delivery of improvements
- Having worked for or closely with a complex/large organisation (desired)
