The Role:
This role encompasses Risk, Governance, and Assurance.
It functions as the Business Risk partner for Consumer Prevention & Protection Portfolio. BRPs are critical to ensuring our first line is identifying, assessing and managing risks effectively. This role is the “voice of risk” at the leadership table, to improve risk capability and maturity. To do their role effectively, BRPs need to have strong relationships and remain close to the risk they are managing.
The role is also accountable for Control Testing and FAR management for the Consumer Insurance function. Control testing is a critical assurance activity which ensures and uplifts the function’s control environment. FAR is a new program of work for Insurance, and the role will support embedding ways of working across the function.
This Is a 5-month secondment opportunity.
What you’ll do:
- Build and manage trusted relationships with the business and across the Risk community, advocating the desired risk culture and improving risk capability and maturity
- With your peers, lead the control uplift program of work for Consumer Insurance ensuring commitments to the regulator are achieved
- Hold accountability for the control testing program of work for Consumer insurance, ensuring that Standard and scorecard requirements are met, and proactive reporting is provided. Drive collaboration between the BRP and Control Testing teams.
- Hold accountability for FAR governance, ensuring that reasonable steps are maintained and the biannual assessments are completed effectively
- Contribute to and design proactive solutions to build risk maturity and capability that ensure the business is safe, including by working collaboratively across the Risk operating model (eg Compliance, QA, CRO)
- Manage and report on the risk profile, presenting the main drivers of the profile and recommendations on remediation activities, to ensure the function is managing within risk appetite
- Build subject matter expertise in managing big operational risk categories, such as processing errors and customer care violations. For other categories of risk ensure the accountable team across the Risk community is brought into conversations in a timely manner
- Provide insights to drive continuous improvement within the business, including identifying new areas of focus for risk management, as well as deep diving into known or potential risk issues. Identify drivers and recommend activity to mitigate risk
- Lead and develop the capability of the Risk team, by recruiting, training and developing a high performing team
What you’ll bring:
- Extensive experience within Risk related business area(s).
- Background in general insurance
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- ISO 31000: Risk Management training (desired)
