We are seeking a Building Technical Advisor to join our Consumer Property Claims team in Perth. This is a permanent, full-time role within a team focused on technical standards, customer service, and quality results in insurance repairs.
You will use your experience in the industry to assist internal stakeholders on residential building matters, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards.
About the Role
As a Building Technical Advisor, you will provide guidance to internal stakeholders to ensure adherence to building codes, accurate scoping, and effective cost control. Your responsibilities include providing expert advice on repair methodologies, building compliance, and scope assessment, in addition to working together with specialists and suppliers to achieve suitable outcomes. Your contributions will play a critical role in influencing customer satisfaction and claim outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice on residential building issues, including repairs, rectification works, and compliance matters
- Review scopes of work, quotes, and specialist reports to ensure accuracy and appropriateness
- Provide support to stakeholders on complex and major repairs, offering guidance on repair methodology and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with engineers, geo-techs, certifiers to resolve technical challenges and determine cause of damage.
- Carry out on-site inspections to confirm adherence to the National
- Construction Code, Australian standards, and to ensure repair standards and workmanship.
- Identify risks and potential fraud, ensuring adherence to internal policies and industry regulations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and technical training by staying informed on industry standard and developments.
What You’ll Bring
- Relevant trade qualification in a repair-related discipline.
- Current or expired builder’s licence.
- Minimum 5+ years in residential building/renovation and estimating.
- Strong understanding of residential building codes, standards, and compliance requirements
- Proven experience in scheduling and supervising trades and repairs.
