The Role:

The Office of the Secretary (OTS) provides high level strategic advice on corporate governance; parliamentary and public administration matters as well as support services to the Portfolio Ministers and the Secretary. 

OTS operates as a unified team and is structured into three streams including Corporate Policy and Delegations, Corporate Planning and Risk Management and Executive and Ministerial Services.

The coordinator provides high quality coordination, analysis and support to the Secretary and Manager - Executive Services in relation to matters involving the Secretary, corporate governance, the business operations of OTS and the portfolio Ministers.

  • Provide the Secretary and/or the Manager advice on, and analysis of, a wide range of health and human services issues which affect the Department, undertake and contribute to the team’s research, investigation and analysis capacity on a range of issues relating to the Department, and prepare complex reports, briefings and submissions.
  • Contribute to the development of frameworks for key corporate governance elements including, but not limited to, policy, risk, planning and delegations to continuously improve the DoH corporate governance arrangements.
  • Actively contribute to the development, continual improvement and enhancement of Departmental business systems, business processes and guidelines to meet the standards and protocols of the Secretary, Ministers and the Government.
  • Contribute to the management of major parliamentary processes for the Department as they relate to the Ministers and the Secretary.
  • Provide advice, support and training to ensure the timely flow of quality information and documentation that is accurate, reflects current policy and is of the highest standard.
  • Assist other team members to meet their work demands for the Secretary and the portfolio Ministers and provide back up support to other members of the team during periods of leave. 
  • Develop, promote and enhance positive relationships and networks within, and between, the senior management of the Department and the Office of the Minister/s in a highly political and sensitive environment.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.
  • The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 1 August 2025 until 31 March 2026.

Please note that hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Classification: 

Salary $107,899 - $122,292 per annum + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
