The Team:

The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Palliative Care, will work with the Specialist Palliative Care Service - community team which incorporates the Royal Hobart Hospital Palliative Care Consult Service. The successful applicant for this position will commence in the inpatient consult service. Clinicians in the multidisciplinary Specialist Palliative Care team work in accordance with clinical standards and best practice principles to improve the quality of life and healthcare experiences of people with life-limiting illnesses referred to the service.  We focus on providing optimal symptom management and end of life care planning, and we aim to support and empower people to die in the place of their choice. 

The Role:

  • Coordinate the delivery of client care within the palliative care nursing team in accordance with clinical standards, best practice principles and within an interdisciplinary framework.
  • Working in an interdisciplinary setting provide appropriate clinical consultancy, intervention and support for clients by conducting comprehensive advanced clinical assessment, planning and evaluation of health outcomes with a view to maintaining independence and quality of life.
  •  Provides clinical leadership and direction in planning, implementing and evaluating the provision of care utilising an advanced level of interpersonal, problem solving and highly developed communication skills.
  • Utilise a significant degree of independent clinical judgement while applying advanced clinical nursing expertise in the area of palliative care.
  • Responsible as a leader, advisor and mentor for providing leadership and education in best practice in the health care and management of people with life limiting illness.

You will need:

  • Outstanding assessment and communication skills associated with a number of years of postgraduate experience.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a clinical leadership role.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development of self and colleagues.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, part time, shift worker position, working 64 hours per fortnight for a period of 12 months. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Classification: Registered Nurse, Grade 6

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  • Current driver's license.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Holds or working towards relevant post graduate tertiary qualification

Under particular circumstances employees may be required to undertake a new conviction check.
