The Team:

Seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Physiotherapist to join our Medical Services Physiotherapy Team to work as an integral member of the Rapid Assessment Medical Unit (RAMU) Multidisciplinary Team.

This role maintains important links with the Emergency Department, the Medical Services Team and the Cardio-Respiratory Team with the potential to collaborate to support the patients journey through the health system.

The Medical Services Team is large and highly involved in the multidisciplinary space.  There is Senior collaboration across the acute and sub-acute Services in peer support, supervision and mentorship.  There is significant opportunity to develop skills in enhanced clinical scope, supervision, and other non-clinical opportunities within and outside of the Service.

The Role:

This position is based at the Royal Hobart Hospital in Hobart CBD.  It is a rotational shift work position that supports primary patient-flow management for short stay medical admissions requiring collaborative input to facilitate timely discharge.

The Senior Physiotherapist – RAMU - will perform duties including:

  • Provide evidence driven, patient centred physiotherapy care to general and specialised medical patients, facilitating patient flow, discharge planning and optimising patient outcomes.
  • Promote a learning culture supporting leadership and clinical supervision to junior physiotherapists, allied health assistants and undergraduate students working in general medicine.
  • Foster innovation and support quality improvement and service delivery projects.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term part time, shift worker position, working 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 3 January 2026.

Please note that hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Classification: 

Salary $110,425 to $121,907 per annum (Pro rata). + 11.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $ 119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 
  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Physiotherapy Board of Australia
  • Registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Postgraduate qualifications or working towards this in the identified clinical area
