The Role

The primary role of the Statewide Specialty Director - Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is to provide leadership to all aspects of service delivery for the assigned clinical service, to ensure the provision of high standard, consumer focused and cost effective clinical services to the Tasmanian community, in accordance with Tasmanian Health Service (THS), Department of Health (DoH) and Tasmanian government policies and priorities.

Working in partnership with the Group Director, the Statewide Specialty Director - CAMHS is accountable to the Medical Director - Statewide Mental Health Services (SMHS) for the statewide delivery of services, including meeting performance targets and responding to population needs in the context of delivering better patient access and better patient outcomes.

The Statewide Specialty Director - CAHMS is responsible for providing high level specialist advice in relation to clinical practice, strategic direction, policy and relevant legislation to Senior Management within the THS and DoH and to other government and community sector agencies.

Work in partnership with and report to the Medical Director - SMHS, to ensure the delivery of safe, evidence-based patient care and the ongoing strategic development of statewide clinical services within the CAHMS.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term full time day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible for a period of 6 months.

Please note that hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Classification: 

Salary $216,300 - $310,389 per annum (pro rata) + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging + allowances

  • Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Holds specialist registration

  2. Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway

     

  3. Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  1. Experience working in Child and Adolescent psychiatry.
  2. Membership of RANZCP section of Child and Adolescent psychiatry.
  3. Ability to gain recognition by the RANZCP as an accredited supervisor.

Under particular circumstances employees may be required to undertake a new conviction check.
