About the Role
Reporting to Program Lead Maintenance, this is a pivotal role within the Service Delivery Portfolio. As the Leading Hand Grass you will be responsible for: making a difference and adding to our work environment, within a place that you can learn a perform to your full potential. This role will operate over a six-month contract.
- Operation of a front deck mower along with powered hand tools and herbicide application equipment to manage grassed areas along many of our waterways, drains, pipe tracks and other Melbourne Water owned assets.
- Understand and undertake defined quality control/assurance on activities performed.
- Taking care of own and colleagues Health and Safety through identification and reporting of hazards and active involvement in improvement initiatives.
- Assisting Crew Members to ensure compliance requirements are maintained.
- Support a culture of Health, Safety & Wellbeing.
- A valid Driver’s Licence is required as this role requires occasional travel.
About you:
- You have the ability to work proactively as a member of the team, contribute fully to team decision-making and take responsibility for own role in ensuring the safety of all team members and other personnel on site
- Demonstrated experience in grass cutting works and programs
- Problem solving skills, including the ability to deliver the appropriate outcomes.
- Sound interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people both within Melbourne Water, external organisations and with the general public.
- Ability to work and contribute to a team environment to improve processes, respond to various demands and manage multiple activities simultaneously.

This is a full time 6 month fixed-term position based at South East Regional Office (SERO) in Bangholme with travel required to field based sites and assets throughout Melbourne Waters network. An operational work vehicle will be used to attend sites.
