About the Role

The Manager, Service Programs, Healthy Waterways will support the delivery of Melbourne Water’s commitments for meeting Healthy Waterways Strategy outcomes by developing capital works, maintenance programs and working with our community and stakeholders to identify partnerships and impactful grants. In planning these programs, consideration will need to be given to the impacts of climate change and urban growth. 

This will be achieved through:

  • Developing future focussed 5 to 10 year investment plans for waterway services across the greater Melbourne region consistent with the Healthy Waterways Strategy and Waterways and Drainage Investment Plan. 
  • Developing management regimes that will protect and enhance,  the social and environmental condition and function of  waterway assets
  • Prioritising investment across asset classes (for example the growth and maintenance of waterway vegetation, streambank stability and naturalisation) the activation of waterway corridors for community enjoyment.
  • Understanding the implications of climate change and urban growth and embedding appropriate measures into future plans.
  • Leading  co-delivery partnerships (including service design, co-funding and co-delivery) with key stakeholders and community.
  • Leading the implementation of an asset management approach for the waterways network including the development of asset management plans.

About you:

  • Experience in waterway and natural asset management
  • Experience and knowledge of asset management processes, risk assessment and management techniques, and project and program management.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing complex programs and capability to evaluate options and proposals
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen skills to control, budget and forecast expenditure
  • Vast experience in leadership and management
  • Ability to lead change and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Maturity and judgement necessary to contribute to complex decision making
  • Agent of Culture - Inspire through role modelling of values, mind-sets and habits to bring to life our desired culture

You will hold a tertiary degree in science or environmental engineering or related discipline and significant industry experience.
